Honeybees: Insects or Sentient Beings…Can They Be Both?
Participants will learn honeybee life cycle and hive basics as well as delve into recent scientific research suggesting problem solving abilities and even emotions in these fascinating insects. After 500 years of co-evolution, honeybees and humans are inherently interdependent. Our very survival may depend on how we come to understand and support each other! Be ready to be informed, challenged, and awed by these amazing creatures.

Class meets on two Thursdays: 4月 18 and 25, 6-8 p.m.

Instructor Kristen Bowman finds inspiration in learning what makes each student come alive in their own educational journey. A life-long learner herself, she has taught all ages of students for over 20 years. She has undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology, and a master's degree in education. She attended Cedar Mountain Herb School where she completed an apprenticeship. Having attended "Bee School" from Central Oregon Beekeepers Association, she has kept an apiary of two to eight honeybee colonies since 2020. She is also the owner, 配方设计师, and biodynamic bee "keeper" of Ancestral Apiary, her online business.
